The international recession has caused a consumer
trend of ‘nesting’. Consumers now stay at home more and focus on
beautifying their homes and gardens.
Flowers play an important part in ‘nesting’ – and
Lowensvlei plays an important role in helping their customers
achieve this.
|
Lowensvlei is a 17ha flower farm located in
Tierfontein, 8kms outside of Malmesbury and only 40 minutes from
Cape Town.
In December 1999, Cilla and Brian Lowen bought this
neglected property and over the years transformed it into a supplier
of top quality gerberas, Geraldton wax, carnations and pincushions
for exporters, wholesalers, florists and designers throughout South
Africa.
Lowensvlei’s slogan ‘Our care shows’
is integral to their mission statement:
‘Our care shows’ is a value that is
expressed in the quality of
our plants, our attitude towards our
customers, and care
towards our staff and the communities in which they
live.’
Lowensvlei staff are encouraged to fulfil their
potential: some have vegetable gardens on the farm, while others
have their own businesses and do flowers in their communities for
weddings, special occasions and funerals. |
